Project Description
The project consists of the construction of a 4,000-sf visitor center, tow contact stations, two restroom buildings, four picnic shelters, two playgrounds with play equipment, well house, two ranger residences, two canoe/kayak launches, supporting infrastructure, utilities and extensive site work.
Site work includes four septic systems and drain fields, installation of water, electric and storm water, required erosion and sediment control measures, construction and paving of VDOT entrances, access roads and parking lots.
A highlight of this project is the construction of a canoe/kayak launch are in the Potomac River consisting of a rip rap breaker and sand fill terrace with aquatic plantings.
